Entry by Development Manager Whitney Rhodes:
I am told over and over again that this isn’t a real thing, but for us Nebraskans it totally is–chili and cinnamon rolls. The truth is we don’t really ever follow a recipe, it’s experimental every time. So here’s a collection of a few different recipes of both that will make the goods! Or encourage people to make their own favorite chili recipe and cinnamon roll recipe and EAT THEM TOGETHER!
(photos above = unashamed advertisement for one of my favorite hometown fast food joints but it is also proof that chili and cinnamon rolls are a thing and I’m not crazy.)
TIPS: Cumin and ground mustard are chili’s best friend, so is a little brown sugar in your beef. Also, for a unique way to add a little kick, throw in a couple of cans of Rotel. And don’t be afraid of cooking the night before and slowly reheating for a couple of hours before serving allowing the flavors to successfully mix together.
TIPS: If you don’t have time to make homemade bread, use Rhodes bread.
