Lots of Buzz Around the Firehouse

Posted on October 10, 2012

Don’t be alarmed, the smoke you see coming from Mixed Blood isn’t a fire, it’s actually steam coming off of the foreheads of the staff here. We’ve been hard at work kicking off the 2012/13 season. In traditional Mixed Blood style, we plunged into our 37th season in a big way. Here’s a look at what we’ve done/will be doing in October:

  • Began the 2012/13 season with the Pulitzer prize-winning musical, NEXT TO NORMAL
  • Started season two of Radical Hospitality, our no-cost admission program
  • Began rehearsal for our first touring show of the season, THEORY OF MIND, that will tour throughout the Midwest
  • Put in a new (and long overdue) phone system
  • Hosted the first Salon of the #Nxt2NormMBT series (look for a post about the entire series soon!)
  • Hosted a small contingency from the Lark Play Development Center
  • Our October 11th performance of NEXT TO NORMAL will serve as College Night (with tons of free pizza, Tweet for Treat opportunities, music, and more)
  •  We’ll host our first Tweet Seat performance on Saturday, October 13 (with special guests, Theoroi Project)
  • Disability Advisory Committee meeting
  • Latino Advisory Committee meeting
  • Board Meeting, where we welcomed 2 new members!
  • Gearing up for our second Center of the Margins festival
  • Received an A-Ha! grant from Metlife/TCG to establish a database of disability-themed plays
  • For our first On the Job training session of the season we will work with the YWCA

So if you are in the area, stop on by and join us for some of our programs! See you around the firehouse!
